The Dean of the College of Hotel & Tourism at Kyung Hee University.
Welcome to the College of Hotel & Tourism.
Since its establishment in 1975, the College of Hotel & Tourism of Kyung Hee University has produced a large number of alumni.
In particular, the College of Hotel & Tourism has been recognized not only in domestic evaluations but also in world university evaluations.
In addition, there are currently 40 professors and 2500 undergraduate students, 500 general graduate students, and 200 graduate students in tourism. Such a scale is quite large even in the world.
The entire tourism industry has been greatly affected by Covid – 19. Realistically speaking, it is obvious that the Manufacturing business is no longer creating enough jobs. As Korea’s economy continues to grow and develop, the outlook for hospitality tourism is brighter than any other industry. Paradoxically, the impact of COVID-19 has put the spotlight on hospitality tourism as one of the most likely sectors to recover and grow in the Post – COVID era.
Originally, the hospitality and tourism industry was perceived as a traditional service industry. However, it is transforming into an industry where scientific and analytical skills based on data and technology are important. It is also deeply involved in people’s quality of life and is becoming more than ever an “experience Industry” due to the growing demand for leisure. As a result, we have been working on following initiatives to respond quickly to the changing environment. Beginning in 2023, the department were reorganized as follows : Hospitality Management, Tourism & Entertainment, and Culinary & Food Design. This curriculum change fully reflects overseas best practices and the opinions of various stakeholders from all works. We plan to provide students with the knowledge and skills required in their respective fields, so that they can become competitive human resources when they enter the workforce.
The College of Hotel & Tourism offers dual degree programs.
First, The University of Houston, one of the most prestigious universities in the United States, and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, the number one ranked university in the field of hospitality. Therefore, the program allows qualified students to study abroad for a total of 4 semester(3rd,4th ) and earn 2 degrees. In addition to the above programs, also have a program where student can earn credits from the University of Central Florida and do an internship at Disney World. We also have several other internationalization programs. The College of Hotel and Tourism has Its own great global program, and Kyung Hee University has its own excellent exchange student program. Through these programs, we strengthen the global competencies of our students.
Our students don’t just go into the hospitality industry; they go into a wide variety of fields, including manufacturing, finance, retail, entertainment, government enterprise etc.
The reason for this is that students have a basic understanding of customers in various fields, and we believe there is a need for people with this background who can plan and analyze products and services.
