Smart Tourism Education Platform

Introduction to Major

Due to the integration of IT into the real world, traditional tourism and hospitality industry is experiencing digital acceleration. Therefore, there is need for an educational program to cultivate convergent talents who can lead the combination of tourism majors with technology, data, and content in the College of Hotel & Tourism at Kyung Hee University.

STEP, Smart Tourism Education Platform, aims to cultivate data analytics talent for the development of post – Corona tourism strategy and responses to the climate change crisis, and a highly skilled workforce for artificial intelligence, robots, and service automation in the 4th industrial revolution. As the global economic crisis leads to the loss of jobs and disrupted supply chains worldwide, the STEP aims to cultivate intelligent manpower that can contribute to the solution of national, social, and industrial problems.
By applying a transdisciplinary curriculum that combines essential skills in tourism, technology and data, the department aims to provide future – oriented education.

The Department aims to cultivate and nurture academic and practical talents to innovate in smart tourism.

Career Exploration / Path

To become employed in strategic management related to tourism and hospitality.

This includes general strategic management areas such as marketing, revenue management, managing human resources, and investing in tourism and hospitality (e.g hotels, restaurants, conventions.) They also provide career directions in big – data based information analysis, including information analysis solution development.

The program is designed to prepare students for careers at the Master Degree and Ph.D, as well as for careers within industry and related organizations, public service, research and academic institutions, both within and outside of Korea.
